Enrichment Opportunities

At Leftwich Community Primary School Educational Visits and Outdoor Activities are integral parts of our children’s education. Every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. They offer opportunities to enrich the curriculum, enabling our children to have first-hand experience of a wide range of topics and activities. These often are the most memorable learning experiences and help them to make sense of the world around them by making links between feelings and learning. They allow them to transfer learning experiences outside the classroom and vice versa.

Educational Visits

On residential visits especially, there are opportunities to develop social skills which have a long-lasting beneficial effect. All visits are carefully planned and organised by teachers and range from short local visits, making use of the immediate environment, to more extended journeys. Each year the school arranges a number of educational visits and activities that take place off the school site and/or out of school hours.

There are three residential visits which take place during the school year, in years 2, 4 and 6.

Forest Schools

Leftwich Primary School prides itself on opportunities for all. Therefore Miss Danielles takes children out for Forest School sessions, so as to inspire children to achieve their full potential through stimulating outdoor experiences.

During Forest School sessions Miss Danielles provides children with the opportunity to practically learn about the natural environment, handle risks, ask questions and think critically about their discoveries, co-operate with others, develop their social skills, grow in confidence and become self-motivated to make their own judgments. The outcome of these developments is that these skills are then not only transferred to other areas of the curriculum, but to areas of the learner’s life enabling them to achieve their full potential.
