Well, what a year it has been! We have certainly been through some strange times in recent months and, even though we have been thrilled to welcome some of you back for the last few weeks of term, school hasn’t felt the same without you all.
While you’ve been away, we have all been very busy finding ways to improve school for when you return. Mr Allen has done an amazing job at decorating all the classrooms, they look fantastic. Your teachers have been planning an exciting new curriculum and we have bought lots of lovely new books for you to enjoy in your lessons.
School will still look a bit different when you return, but we’ll spend some time showing you the ropes and you’ll soon get used to the new routines. We will still have to safely distance from one another, so the signs around school to remind you to keep apart will remain in place. Mrs Guy and I are busy working out start and finish times, as we’ll have to stagger these to keep you all safe. Lunch times will also be a little strange as we can’t have you all in the dining hall together, but you’ll eat with your friends in your class. There will be handwashing when you arrive at school and regularly throughout the day. You’ll also share a desk with just one other person in your class rather than sitting in groups at first, and you’ll have your own special pot of equipment such as pencils and rulers.
Your class will be your special bubble!
The Government has asked schools to keep children in ‘bubbles’ to keep everyone as safe as possible. For those of you who haven’t been in this will seem strange at first, but I promise you’ll soon get used to it. Bubbles aren’t allowed to mix so this means you spend all day with your class, including break times and lunch times where you’ll play in special zone outside. You’ll all have your own equipment to play games and when you have PE we’ll have to clean the sports equipment before it can be used by another bubble or class.
We have now come to the end of this school year and we would all like to wish you a very safe and happy holiday. Most of you will have new teachers in September and they are all really looking forward to meeting you. I know some of you will be a bit worried about coming back after such a long time away, but we’ll look after you. Just think how brilliant it will feel to be back with your friends!
We have missed you and we can’t wait to see you all in September!
